Some interesting finds in the last seven days. Aniseed Cockleshell (Lentinellus cochleatus) I encounter maybe once a year. It is edible mushroom and I did taste it. Very pleasant and mild. Grows at the base of the trees or stumps.

Around one tree stump huge flash of Jack O'Lantern (Omphalotus olearius) showed. Amazingly beautiful, but poisonous. It is frequently mistaken for Chanterelle, although it grows in clusters and obviously has gills. All three pictures are taken around the same stump.

The Giant Puffballs are still around. The numbers are somewhat diminished, but they are certainly visible!

Scally Pholiota (Pholiota squarrosa) prefers birch trees, but shows on some maple and other hardwoods, too. It is a regular find and looks very impressive on the background of white birch bark. I obtained photos of several clusters in different stages of maturity. The mushroom is beautiful, but not edible.

As far as Boletes go, the Goldenstalk is present and with some effort it is possible to collect a decent meal. Typical for this year, Amanitas are everywhere, beautiful and quite visible all over the ground. Weather is still quite dry and temperatures higher than seasonal.
